Dan Cohen is a six-time Emmy award-winning producer of live, postproduction, corporate television, and documentary filmmaker. Dan has just wrapped production as Producer/Director of the feature documentary “An Article of Hope”, with production partners Playtone, and Herzog and Company of Hollywood, California. The film is scheduled for broadcast on networks worldwide with domestic distribution targeted for early 2011. In every area of media, Dan has been recognized for his skills and expertise. Over the years he has won numerous top video production awards ranging from an Emmy for PSA production, to six Telly awards. His most recent video production work took him to the Arctic Circle with climate researchers from around the world. Two of Dan’s Telly awards were received for work with government agencies, (a U.S. Department of Education training video, and an educational video on fire safety for the U.S. Fire Administration); a Communicator Award; a National Association of Government Communicators award; and The Mercury Award. To help fill the ranks, Dan has worked with numerous law enforcement agencies and first responders in the production of recruitment strategy and messaging, and recruitment videos. The programs have been used on websites, presentations, and as broadcast commercials. Dan is a veteran journalist, and broadcast news producer. He has had a successful career of structuring, analyzing and re-designing television news programs. Dan’s assignments have taken him from remote cities in South America, to the launch pad of America’s Space Shuttle, to the presidential campaign trail. His skill for comprehensive work under deadline also won him a wide range of producer assignments including war zones with U.S. troops in Bosnia and the Middle East, touring with the Pope, national political conventions, Presidential inaugurations, and Florida hurricane devastation. As a managing editor, he was responsible for assembling and directing a strong team of anchors, reporters, producers and technical support to make his station’s program the most highly rated prime time news program in the country. Dan has worked in productions houses from Washington, to Los Angeles, and in the television control rooms of network-affiliated stations in Orlando, Miami, and Washington DC, where he was employed by NBC’s station as a line producer, special projects producer, and health and science producer. Dan has lectured for the School of Communications at Ithaca College in broadcast journalism and production, and holds a B.S. in Communications from Ithaca. |
